WGQT* Night: Women, Queer Gender & Trans* open shop!

GRRRRR      vintage_women_bike_mechanics

2nd & 4th Tuesdays of Every Month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm

We are inviting people who identify as women, gender queer and trans* to our fun filled bike mechanics nights between 6:30 and 8:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th TUESDAYS OF EACH MONTH. Our community is working towards being a radically inclusive space and with that in mind we are excited to host these evenings for individuals who have not traditionally been a dominant part of the bike industry. The nights will be facilitated by bike mechanics and volunteers who are also female or gender variant. We strive to create a safer space where learning, positive vibes and fun happens!

On these evenings, SHOP TIME IS FREE. This means you will have access to all tools and experienced bike mechanics will be available to answer your questions and help you fix your bike!

Youth Bike Club

Bike Club is a FREE drop-in bicycle mechanics program for people aged 12-19 years old. The program runs at Kickstand on Tuesday afternoons. Each week starts at 3:30pm with a half hour bike mechanics workshop on a different topic and open shop hours run from 4pm-6pm where youth can either work on their own bikes with our support or can volunteer with us on shop projects to build their skills and gain credits that they can exchange for used parts. Facilitated by Ari 05 and Duby FlowRito (Ari Ng and Sarah FioRito). Contact bikeclub@pedalpower.org for more info!

DIY Kids Bike Library

The Do-It-Yourself Kids Bike Library invites families to come to the shop to learn how to fix up a kids bike to take home with them.  We have plenty of kids bike that just need a little love to get back on the road.  Bicycle, mechanical support, access to tools, and replacement parts are offered by donation. No one turned away for lack of funds!

Monthly Bike Build Parties!

Calling all bicycle mechanics, nerds, enthusiasts, lovers, and people who don’t know what a bicycle is!! We have so many bikes that need a bit of love, then we can sell at affordable prices to our community to keep our shop running!

We are inviting volunteers, professional mechanics, casual mechanics, patrons of the shop and people with any amount of experience to come join us. We need people of all abilities to come help out as there’s many things that go into building a bike. Never built a bike? No worries, come hang out and learn! No interest in building a bike? No matter, just come hang out.

Our next bike build party is October 13th, from 12pm – 6pm.  Check back here or check out our Facebook for future events.
